What is Fatigue?

Fatigue is a feeling of tiredness, little or no energy or a feeling of weakness. These symptoms are usually accompanied by a lack of motivation to do anything. Other symptoms may include dizziness, shortness of breath, heart palpitations and vertigo. Just getting out of bed or off the couch can be a mission. Some people feel so exhausted they may also feel like they are going to pass out. The most common causes of fatigue are lack of sleep, over exertion from physical exercise or psychological problems. Constant fatigue for a long period of time may be a sign of an underlying illness, such as heart disease, thyroid disorders or diabetes.

Chronic Fatigue lasts for six months or longer. A medical examination will rule out other possible illnesses before labeling the condition. Only a small percentage of (approximately 5% of people) recover fully from CFS

Suffers of CFS may have four or more of the following symptoms:

• Extreme physical or mental exertion
• Prolonged exhaustion and sickness
